Welcome to Alexandropoulis, the City after the name of the greatest Greek King in human history Alexander the Great, where we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Balkan Academy of Forensic Sciences (BAFS).
During these years we took long steps to advance Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences and spread it all throughout the Balkan Peninsula and colleagues from the rest of the world.
We believe the fields are now integral part of all court systems to assist law enforcement and administration of justice for the benefit of common people. The association is also active to assist in career building. Forensic sciences is now intimately involved in educating students from all countries composing the historical peninsula.
Today the fields of BAFS are composed of diverse areas such as anthropology, biology, criminalistics, engineering, jurisprudence, forensic dentistry, pathology, psychology, psychiatry, questioned documents and toxicology. Each of them is unique and independent and yet their efforts are frequently combined to solve a particular problem to assist in a country.
BAFS is now in its 10th year. Meetings have already been held nearly twice in each country. We have developed a welcome consideration for policy to invitation to meet in a Balkan Land. It is now accepted that almost all Balkan scientists have known each other personally and professionally. They also share similar cultural characteristics. In 2014, we have competitively chosen Alexandropoulis to be our next meeting place.
