"TRAINING OF THE TRAINERS" SEMINAR IN TURKEY

MAY 4 – 10, 2013       ANKARA, TURKEY

INTRODUCTION:

The main aim of this 2013 international programme is to work towards the end of the trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of young Roma children and youth.

MAIN GOALS OF THE SEMINAR AND PROGRAMME:

      To develop the capacity of key young adult leaders and multipliers from ECPAT, Roma Organisations, the NGO NETWORK against CESC in TURKEY and ENYA.

      To motivate and empower participants to design and implement Roma CSECY national and local projects.

      To empower young people to become involved in improving and developing new initiatives and programmes working towards the elimination of CSECY of Roma children and young people.

      To train young people in peer education methodologies and programmes.

      To increase the effectiveness of young people to interact and actively promote CSECY social justice and inclusive policies, programs, plans and projects.

      To develop the capacity of key multipliers in social justice and inclusion issues co-managed with Roma young people.

PARTICIPANT CRITERIA:

Young adults who are between 18 - 30 years old who:

      Are already involved (or interested to become involved) in local / national / international Roma CSECY children and youth projects and/or involved in ECPAT, Roma Organisations, the NGO Network against CSEC in Turkey or ENYA youth programmes and have the support  of their sending organisation.

      Who have regular access to Internet (minimum weekly).

      Who are interested in exchange of experience and good practices and working towards developing new programmes against CSECY of Roma children and young people.

      Who are willing to develop a minimum of one peer project (local or nationally) with CSECY of Roma children and young people.

      Who can commit themselves to a one year engagement on these issues and programmes which may include online training.

Applicants need to also send with the application a copy of their CV and two recommendation letters - one from their sending organisation and one from a peer friend.

PARTICIPANTS:   The seminar will bring together (up to)  24 young multipliers  from a variety of backgrounds who come from the various countries in Europe.

  
Participants need to have intermediate knowledge English skills and they are expected to commit themselves to be involved in the project for a minimum of one year.  As part of the integral process of the whole programme, it is expected that the qualifications and skills gained through the programme will be further shared and passed with others within their local and/or national context and within their organisations and projects. A six-month monitoring report will be requested after the seminar both from the sending organisation and each participant.

FINANCES, TRAVEL and PARTICIPATION COSTS:

This programme is supported by the fundraising efforts of the organisers and partners.  The Participation Fee for participants is 20.00 Euros. All participants need to pay the Participation Fee.

There are 8 international scholarships for those from outside Turkey and several scholarships for those from Turkey available (contribution to travel and accommodation), which need to be applied for at the same time as submitted the application form. Those who apply for a scholarship will be informed as soon as possible after the deadline.
